An Alcohol Dependent Person Registers For Rehab And Gets Alcohol Detox And Treatment For His Alcohol Addiction
Donald used to boast to his drinking pals how he could work at a demanding and full-time job and get drunk virtually every night. Sadly, after engaging in this party lifestyle for roughly three-and-a-half years, he started to display a variety of alcohol related difficulties.
For example, he had a hard time getting up for work because he felt so tired when he got up. Not only this, but just about every morning Donald suffered through a terrible hangover. It was apparent that the mixture of his lack of get-up-and-go and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel inspired to go to work. To make matters worse, roughly a week ago he received his second DWI in the past thirteen weeks.
To complicate things further, at work his last two performance appraisals were less than tolerable. And lastly, his five-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his depression, angry outbursts, financial difficulties, and his lack of patience.
Although Donald was only twenty seven years old, he honestly started to look like he was in his mid forties. Regrettably, this is what abusive and careless drinking can do to an individual. And in truth he comprehended that he was experiencing the negative outcomes of alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to give up his life to careless and excessive drinking. So initially he tried to drink responsibly and in moderation. Sadly, he soon grasped the fact that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Since this was a situation that was repeated every single time he drank, this obviously disturbed him a great deal. In fact, he began to wonder if he was manifesting some of the stages of alcoholism.
After going over his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and careless drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to make an appointment to see his family doctor. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he actually stated that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be displaying behavior that is illustrative of the different alcoholism stages, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He then mentioned that drinking in moderation does not work well for him and as a result, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his healthcare practitioner about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His physician referred Donald to Doctor Lenson, a drug and alcohol addiction psychiatrist, who persuaded Donald to register in a drug and alcohol treatment center as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehabilitation. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment clinic.
After five months of comprehensive treatment, Donald left the residential treatment center and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Motivated to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a fitness center and started working out three or four times per week. Within seven months Donald was a new man. He was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, and most significant of all, he remained sober for several months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In short, stopping drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
